Meandering on...... Wrightsville Beach

I am so enjoying my routine of meandering the ICW that time slips away and for one reason or another my blogging gets way laid. Some of the good excuses I have, and they are legit, forgot to charge up my laptop and we are anchored with no extra power for charging, and/or asleep on the settee, or got into a crochet or stamping project! So look at the date and you will see when we actually at the place you are reading about!

After Swansborough, we anchored in Wrightsville Beach. We accidentally found this area by checking into various possible coves and such, and discovered a very nice anchorage! Apparently a lot of boaters know of this place.  The area was filled up.  It was a great spot! Two other boats were there that we had met before - Take Five and North Star.  Take Five came over to us and gave us a ride in their dinghy to shore and we had a lovely dinner at the Mexican restaurant with them! I had the best Chile Rellonos! (We unfortunately didn't get any pictures of them!)

By the way, Inky Rose was not too happy with me. I didn't take her in the dinghy to the restaurant with Ginna and Peter,  so now she's sulking in the corner.

Preparing for our new Adventure!

 Our last week home photo! One week to go for our second trip down the ICW and then back to the Bahamas!  We are in the one week to go blitz!  Feeling the crunch, a good crunch, though!  My emotions are different from the first trip.  I know, through first hand experience, just how much I will really miss everyone!  The excitement of seeing new islands is still just as thrilling and I will definitely enjoy visiting the places along the new route we are taking. Our plan is to go down Lake Okeechobee, Fl to the Gulf coast of Fl, down to the Keys for the Winter and then head to the Eleuthera and the Abaco Islands for the Spring.  As we have majorly learned from our 2016 trip, plans are always subject to change! Anchoring in Georgia and the Walburg Creek Episode

I am going to try a different way of blogging.  I may skip some days and not play catch up but continue from where I am.  I will fill in what I've skipped if I decide I want to include something special or of interest. I will see how it goes.  Inky Rose also needs to come exploring more.  She is so quiet that I forget to take her with me!  We have been traveling down the ICW (the ditch) steadily.  Navigating the ditch is tricky when you have to look at charts and mark down the tides, the depth, and all the times involved in a safe passage. There a few areas, especially in Georgia, where Dolce Vita has a terrible time finding a suitable anchoring spot.  Ed doesn't like to be at any depth lower than 6 or 7 ft. at low tide or deeper than 15 feet at high tide.  Since we don't have a windlass to pull up the anchor and chain, Ed has to do it himself and 15' is the limit of his ability to pull the heavy anchor and chain up.  Georgia has deep...

Swansborough, NC

We needed a place to stay for the night, so we decided to stay at a very inexpensive marina, Dudley's in Swansborough.  When we got there it was still in a rising tide mode, and there wasn't enough depth for us.  We got mildly stuck a couple of times, gave up and went elsewhere.  We found Swansborough's town docks and stayed there.  There were no facilities for boaters.  This area was hard hit by Florence and they were still renovating.  We did get off the boat and visit the very small town of Swansborough. These photos show some of the Hurricane's Florence's wrath:   I was fascinated by the bright color of this house!  the town docks   Here is a part of the town.  Some of the shops were open, some were closed for the season, some were still recovering from damage.
