Daytona, Titusville and Thanksgiving

I am catching up from St. Augustine back in November.  Right now we are back on the boat after leaving home Dec. 28.  I am going to include everything from St. A's through Thanksgiving.  The dates for these events were from Nov. 20 - Nov.  22, 2018.

After St. A's we were still traveling with Bruce and Gayleen on Pearl.  The route was straightforward.  Continued to see Dolphins.  I haven't captured them on camera - they are too fast and I am unprepared!  The neatest thing is we are seeing a lot of manatees!  Again, no photos!  Later though!  We anchored near Pearl in Daytona.  We had a pleasant night.

I love seeing pelicans all together!

The next days' travels led us to Titusville.  Pearl was also anchoring there.  We first went to their fuel dock for fuel and a pump out.  The wind was not helping us at all.  It was keeping us on the dock, so getting off was a challenge.  With the help of the staff, we managed to get away.  In the process, though, Ed nearly backed into another boat. We found out later that we knew these people from our first trip!  They contacted us and let us know we missed them!  We had been in radio content before all of this, so it was amusing to nearly "bump" into them like this!

We anchored near Pearl.  They hopped in their dinghy and came over for sundowners.  We enjoyed some dark and stormys and some laughs!  They were staying there for a while to get some boat work done and we were headed out on our route to Ft. Pierce to make it home by Dec. 1.  We hope to meet up with them in the Keys.

We had a very different kind of Thanksgiving this year.  It was just the two of us (3 if you count Inky Rose!).  I wanted to get some turkey legs for our meal but the last provision stop didn't have any so I improvised with some canned turkey I had on the boat.  Ed found, through a friend's recommendations, a brand, Werthling meats, that were all meat with no preservatives, no salt or spices and actually tasted good.  I made a turkey casserole with the meat, fresh onions and spices.  I had bought a can of cranberry sauce.  I had a mix of risotta, canned pigeon peas and canned corn.  It didn't look like a traditional Thanksgiving meal but it really did taste like one!  We toasted to a wonderful Thanksgiving on the water!
